Jan Klimes, 89, of New Buffalo, died on Friday, November 18, 2011 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Michigan City, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo.
Jan was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia on June 22, 1922 to Bedrich and Karla (Parmova) Klimes. He immigrated to this country to Chicago, IL in 1956. There he married Amalie Pitrova on October 17, 1956. In 1967 they moved to New Buffalo. Jan retired in 1984 from Bethlehem Steel. He is survived by his wife Amalie('Amy'), a niece-Dagmar Golias of Downers Grove, IL, and a brother-Bedrich Klimes of the Czech Republic.
A Mass Celebrating his Life will be held at St. Mary of the Lake Church on Tuesday, 1:00pm, with Father Craig Lusk officiating. Family will receive visitors at the Sommerfeld Chapel on Tuesday from 11:00am-12:30pm. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary of the Lake Church or to the Humane Society.
