Flora Christine Knoll, 85, of New Buffalo, died at Lakeland Continuing Care Center in St. Joseph on Wednesday, December 7, 2011. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo, MI.
Flora was born on August 23, 1926 in Sampson County, North Carolina, to James and Nettie Tew. On August 7, 1953 in Dillian, SC she married Richard Lee Knoll, Sr.; he preceded her in death on June 14, 2007. Flora worked as a waitress for Horne's Restaurant in New Buffalo, Tominko Truck Stop in La Porte, and the Sawyer Travel Center. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, going to church and singing in the choir. She also loved spending time with her children grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Flora is survived by five sons-Wayne (Darlene) Jackson of Rosboro, NC, Joseph (Linda) Knoll of Godwin, NC, Richard (Lisa) Knoll of New Buffalo, MI, George Knoll of Lakeside, MI and Edward (Lorraine) Knoll of Roanoke, AL; two daughters-Sylvia Rayfield of Talledega, AL and Mary Imboden of New Buffalo, MI; 27 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren; one brother-Lee Tew; and sister-Patsy Honeycutt. Flora was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Lucille Faircloth and brothers Delmar and Claxton Tew.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place at the Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo on Saturday, December 10, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Wayne Rosson officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Buffalo. Visiting hours are on Friday, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
