Fern (Hawley) Holmes

My mother passed away in1997 at the age of 83. She and Fern were very good friends and loved to go shopping together, Mom never drove a car and Fern drove all the time and they had many shopping experiences together. Fern will be missed my many, including me.

I will always remember Aunt Fern and Grandma Chrystal laughing and playing cards. I have wonderful memories of the cottage at Bass Lake with her. We, Michael, David and I remember going to her cottage and getting cookies. She is remembered lovingly to us as "The Cookie Lady". Aunt Fern, grandma Chrystal, and Janice(my mom) are up in Heaven having a blast. Grandpa Roper is probably complaining because they sound like a bunch of chickens.
I want to send my love and prayers to my family. Aunt Fern was a Treasure and will be missed.

"THE BOOK" (which was the order book) that got carried from here to there and ended up lost half the time, "The 3 D's" that would have Fern and the rest of us so confused that we would laugh and laugh, our most picky and undecisive customer named "Emily" that would always pick out flowers, and no sooner put them back to pick out new ones (She was our best customer!), the apricot and salmon impatiens that looked exactly the same and drove us crazy, and how we could never find Fern. She didn't move fast, but she never was where we left her last! I'll never plant my flowers or look across the street without thinking of you, Fern! Dave and family, I hope your memories and God's love will help you through this time and bring you peace.

To Dave and Family,

I will miss Fern very much, life won't be the same, nor will I
ever look at a geranium without thinking of you Fern. I
forgot all about Emily being Fern's last name. At the green
house there would be pots and flats of flowers with Emily's
name on them. I remember I went to her and asked who
do all these Flowers belong to, Who is Emily? Her name's
not in "The Book", Fern would laugh and say it was her that
that was her middle name! What a lady! May you rest in peace.
