Aleta "Lee" Stranad, 96, of New Buffalo, MI died at LaPorte Hospital on Thursday, January 5, 2012. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo.

Lee was born on Sept. 6, 1915 in Perham, MN to Arnold and Mabel (Headke) Krueger. She moved to New Buffalo in 1937. On June 13, 1938 she married Louis John Stranad. Lee worked at the New Buffalo Public Library for 35 years. She loved to garden, especially loved flowers, was an avid fisherperson, and loved to play cards. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Buffalo Public Library.

Lee is survived by her two sons, Donald (Marie) Stranad of Raleigh, NC and Lawrence Stranad of Muskegon, MI; four grandchildren, Donald Stranad, Jr., Cynthia Stranad, Cpl. Michael Stranad and Christopher Stranad. She is preceded in death by her parents-Arnold and Mabel, her husband-Louis, and a brother-LaVern.

A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Monday, January 9, 11:00am, at St. John United Church of Christ in New Buffalo, with Pastor Damien Lake officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Buffalo. Visitation is on Sunday at the Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo from 2:00-6:00pm, and also on Monday at the church one hour prior to the service.
